You have finished the questionnaire. You still need to file your documents with the court.

Your answers are being used to create your court documents. You will receive an email when they are ready to view or download. You can always view your documents by clicking on the Petitions Tab, and then “View Petitions”.

How to edit your questionnaire:

You can always edit your questionnaire by accessing the Petitions Tab, “View Petitions”, and then “Edit”. To see your edits reflected in your filing documents, click through to the end of the questionnaire, and re-submit. New documents will generate, and you will receive an email when they are ready to view or download.

How to file your documents with the court:

You can file electronically with the Kent or Seattle Superior Court Clerk. Click HERE: You will be taken to the King County Superior Court Clerk’s Office filing website. You will need to click on “Create New Account” and fill out the required fields to create a free account. Once you create this account, select “Submit Civil Protection Order” from the top task bar. Under Step 2 is the option to “Click to Proceed and Submit your Protection Order”, where you will be able to upload your documents to the court clerk.

How to submit your supporting documents:

When you file, you will have the option to submit supporting documents such as police reports, sworn declarations, photographs, or screenshots.

There are specific formatting requirements for the first page of any supporting document. If your supporting documents do not meet these requirements, they will be rejected when filed.

To avoid rejection, it may be easier to use a Coversheet that meets the requirements of General Rule (GR) 14 and Court Rule (CR) 10, listed below:

  • Case caption, where the full names of the parties are listed on the first page, should be complete and match the names on the petition. Initials are not allowed.

  • The top margin of the first page must be a minimum of three inches.

  • The writing or printing should be readable and/or the document image is clear.

If your supporting document does not meet these requirements, please include a GR 14 coversheet as the first page. If you need a coversheet, please click HERE.

Supporting documents submitted to the court are available for the public to view. Before submitting sensitive information, you may omit/redact the information in your document. If you need a sealed coversheet for confidential reports such as financial or medical records, please use a sealed coversheet as the first page. Sealed coversheets can be found HERE.

Note: There is a different process for submitting audio or video evidence to the court. These materials can only be submitted after you initiate your protection order case. Please visit our Filing Guidance page to find information on how to submit video or audio evidence HERE.

How to submit more evidence in your case:

You can file additional evidence electronically once you have initiated your case with the court. You must first file your case with the court and obtain a case number (ex. #24-2-11111-2).
Any materials you file in your case must be served to the restrained person. Read about service of supplemental materials filed after the initial paperwork, HERE.

To learn how to e-file additional document evidence after starting your case with the court, click HERE.

Please Note: Filing additional materials can be done on the same filing site you used to submit your initial protection order documents. Please follow the link above to see the guide on how to navigate to the right place on the website to submit additional document evidence in an existing case. If you wish to file audio or video evidence after you have initiated your protection order case, please email dja-e-exhibits@kingcounty.gov and include the following information:
